Hardwood Serving Trays

Hardwood Serving Trays

The most used thing in our house. Yours will be too.

I built the first one for us. We needed something to carry dinner from the kitchen to the couch that felt like it belonged in the same house as the food we were cooking and the knives we were cooking with. What I didn’t expect was how much we’d reach for it every single day — meals on the couch, apps on the back porch, charcuterie on the counter when friends come over, carrying food out to the picnic table in the summer. It became the most used piece in the kitchen without trying to be.

That’s what a well built serving tray does.

Every Ember Ridge tray is face grain construction — which means you’re seeing the full dramatic sweep of the wood’s natural grain pattern across the entire surface. This is the most visually striking cut of any board, and I spend real time studying each piece of wood before I build, orienting the grain to get the best possible final appearance. No two trays ever look the same because no two pieces of wood ever grew the same way.

The hand grips are cut by hand on every tray — no templates, no jigs. Which means the grip on yours will be slightly different from every other one that’s ever come out of this shop. All edges and grips are rounded over by hand for a soft, luxurious feel when you pick it up and carry it. The face grain surface has a smoothness that’s hard to describe until you’ve held one. You’ll catch yourself running your hand across it for no reason.

At approximately 14 to 15 inches wide by 19 inches long and 3/4 inch thick, these trays feel exactly as solid as they look. Substantial without being heavy. Built to be picked up and used daily for decades.
